We found this wonderful small solid Oak, Flemish Style Chair on our most recent "Tuesday" Antique shopping venture! We've never seen a chair like this, with it's "Mortise & Tenon" construction, the back is held in place with a peg through the tenon behind the seat. This chair also had fine detail of turned wood legs, a heart cut out and a floral motif adorning the seat & back is burned (Pyro-art) into the surface gives this it's "Flemish Style". The Flemish Art Company(at the turn of the century and into the 30's) was famous for this type of decoration on furniture, keepsake boxes, letter boxes....just about anything made out of wood, thus any item with this type of decoration is commonly referred to as "flemish style", although items actually made by the Flemish Art Company will have a company stamp burned into the piece. This little chair would be at home on the hearth, in a bedroom or that special corner in your home or cabin!
This week we found a 1930's period Solid Quarter Sawn Oak Entry Mirror with beautiful original Beveled Mirrors. This special piece is 49" tall, 20" wide and in great condition. It definitely has some "craftsman" influence in its design, yet would be a welcome addition to any Cabin, Lodge or Cottage! We'd like to wish everyone a safe & happy St. Patrick's Day !

This Original factory or "Industrial" cart is this week's featured "Tuesday Find" that we found during our Antique hunting! This is the real thing...not a reproduction as many furniture companies are selling. The Steel straping that created the sides is 1/2" thick, which is obviously why it has survived 100 years! This would be a wonderful "Firewood Rack" for any lodge or cabin with a large Fireplace! Stop by or call The Lake House in Cedar Glen to look at this unusual Find!
This week we feature a fun & unusual Vintage Door Stop that we found! This unique Door Stop is unlike anything we've seen before and is made of Cast Iron in the shape of a wonderful Fireplace Scene! It's complete with a Mantel, Hearth, Andirons & Logs! A perfect Door stop for your Lodge,
Cabin or Cottage! At 8" tall and 9 1/2" wide, it would work well as a single bookend on a shelf!
This Tuesday we found several interesting Antiques to feature! The first is a very unusual "Toboggan Ink Well set". This beautiful brass "Toboggan" holds two perfect glass ink wells! The next item is a "Flemish Style" Pyro-art Cane or Unbrella holder with a different fruit Motif on all four sides. This unique piece is held together with Boot laces! Third... these Arts & Crafts period Candlesticks feature a Lilly Leaf base and copper Candle cups...Very fun! Our last featured "Tuesday Find" is this wonderful early 1900's Wicker Desk with a Quartersawn Oak Top and one drawer. The Perfect addition to your cottage or cabin guest room!
