Two fabulous Artists will be with us as usual!   Julie Evans will be here for the fourth year!  She's bringing a large painting of a Cypress Tree that you won't want to miss!  (along with many other wonderful paintings!)  Our second Featured artist will be joining us for the First time... Julia Aubrey.  Julia has an amazing Talent for turning gourds into pieces of Fine Art!  You've got to see her work!...

JULIE EVANS     PAINTER
Julie R. Evans is a native of California, currently living in Highland, and I has always lived in the Inland Empire.  This is the third year we have enjoyed the artwork of Julie R. Evans at The Lake House First Friday event.  She started oil painting 34 years ago, stating she has added watercolor, acrylic, and charcoal to her artist toolbox since.  Sometimes, she explained, a subject just wants to be treated with a different medium to give the result and effects she is looking to bring out.  Yet, she expressed her preference for oil paints over other mediums for most of her artwork.  Julie Evans is recognized for painting realism.  She uses both the standard paint brushes (making smooth, invisible brushwork or clearly defined strokes) as well as a palette knife (scooping up the paint quite thickly and carefully applying it to give the desired effect).  A large percentage of her work is drawn from the natural world.  She said, “I generally paint the quiet and still objects or landscapes as opposed to the populated, busy city scenes.  The peaceful tranquility may be what excites me the most when I find my next subject for painting.”
JULIA ABREY  GOURD ARTIST
Julia is a native of the Inland Empire, wife, and mother of four.  While her children were in their teen, she took a couple of tole painting classes and found it to be very rewarding.  During an eight-year move to Yuma, AZ she discovered a gourd creation of three Kachinas in a gift shop and fell in love. After moving back to California and many years later moving to Crestline in 2006, with the encouragement of family she started painting again.  In 2010, she started using gourds as her canvas and quickly became addicted. She has taught herself to wood burn, carve and weave on gourds through the Internet and books, spending numerous hours on each piece. She uses acrylics, dyes, colored pencils, two part epoxy, beads, and materials found in nature to accent her art. Through the support and encouragement of clients and family she has grown her talent and hopes to continue for many years to come.
Please join us to welcome Julie & Julia to The Lake House and to meet all our loyal Art Lovers (YOU!)..

Also, another reminder... we are also adding a special event this year on Labor Day weekend..FRIDAY AUGUST 30th....We have world renowned Sculptor Khachik Khachatouryan.  Don't miss this opportunity to meet this special Artist!  That's actually the LAST Friday of August... MISTY BURRUEL - WATERCOLOR

"Living in the San Bernardino Mountains allows me to investigate a landscape that is in constant flux. Wish you were here... are a series of watercolors reminiscent of postcards. They reflect my direct experience with the environment through discovery and exploration by way of kayak, boat, and roadside. As a curious observer, I find the myth and beauty of landscapes intriguing. I am interested in the lucid quality of watercolor and how it allows for a sincere experience of light and space. My work presents moments that are honest, immediate, transient and seductive. These moments are both shared and isolated experiences" — Misty Misty Burruel received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University with an emphasis in Painting in 2002 and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting from California State University, San Bernardino in 2000. Misty’s studio expertise includes a range of traditional and contemporary media, and her teaching experience includes a variety of genres including Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Installation, and Mixed-Media. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Art in the Art Department at Chaffey College.

GHISLAINE GARGARO

Ghislaine Gargaro graduated from Laval University in Quebec City and after a successful career as a nurse and nursing manager in the South Bay, art became her main focus. She studied design and drawing at Santa Monica City College. She has done work with the Plain Air Painters of America and has studied with many Master Artists. Ghislain is an active member of the California Art Club, the Oil painter of America, the Palos Verdes Artist Studio Gallery, the Plein Air Artists of Riverside and the Laguna Plein Air Painters. DEBRA J. HOLLADAY   Painter

Debra, a native Californian, began her art career at age two with her Mother’s red lipstick as her medium and her cooperative dogs belly as her canvas!  Following her natural talent, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Advertising Design then moved to New York City, where she lived for six years.  During her time in N.Y., Debra studied portrait and figure painting at the Art Student’s League of New York with Hilary H. Holmes.  She also studied en plein air with Curtis Hansen for three summers, in Central park.  In 1996, Debra brought her enthusiasm and solid foundation back home to southern California, where she continued to pursue her love of painting.  Debra is a member of the California Art Club,  a founding member of Studio2310, and a charter member of the National Museum  of Women in the Arts.  Her preferred medium is oil on linen canvas or board, yet she enjoys other media such as acrylics, watercolor, ink & linoleum block printing.  This will be Debra's third year participating in our First Friday Events and we are very proud to have her back!

LISA MOZZINI - MCDILL   Painter

With over 30 awards to her credit, Lisa Mozzini-McDill comes to us with a very impressive background of painting Landscapes and Portraits, as well as years of teaching in her studio and en plein air.  Lisa graduated from San Diego State University with Honors, Distinction in Art and a BA in Graphic Communications. She describes her style this way... " Creating artwork that is realistic but loose, expressive as well as meaningful is an ongoing endeavor.  What I think about when painting is emphasizing an exciting play of light and shadow, an interesting composition, and enhancing a scene that evokes a deeper meaning or emotion in me.  It is my intent that this depth and emotion I feel will also be communicated and resonates with the viewer."  We are fortunate to have Lisa join our team of exceptional Artists here at The Lake House!
